Thousands of households in the ACT will receive an $800 rebate on their utility bills, as living costs double.
Starting 1 July, the South Australian emergency electricity payment increases from $400 to $800, with no debt cap.
Anyone with a Commonwealth Health Care Card can now apply, expanding support to 43,800 ACT households.
Human Services Minister Nat Cook announced the increase, with an additional $300 discount from the Australian Government.
Payments, part of a $266.2 million package, doubled from $400 to $800 starting 1 July, now available every two years.
Eligible individuals must contact their energy provider or the ACT Revenue Office, or seek help from a financial counselor.
The $800 electricity payment expansion aids vulnerable households, reducing energy costs as living expenses rise.
